Social & Recreational Programs
Group activities that build connection, confidence and community — run by Lionheart's Programs Coordinator.
What's on
Lionheart runs a regular calendar of social and recreational group activities, designed to build connection and everyday life skills alongside other participants. Beyond the weekly calendar we run one-off trips too — Christmas lights runs, and days up to Rockhampton for the zoo and the lagoon.
“[Our child] has gained in confidence and independence since going with friends and support workers to Pokémon club, bus and car excursions, cooking, disco and karaoke sessions. As a result of this capacity building, they have found strengths they hadn't yet explored.”

Term 3, 2026 programs
Every program we run this term, with the times and the out-of-pocket cost — that’s what you pay on the day for the activity itself. Support during the program is charged separately to your plan; there’s a plain explanation of both below. No booking system to wrestle with — call (07) 4910 8777 or message Lynsay and she will sort it out.

Two different costs, and they’re easy to confuse
1. Out-of-pocket — the amount shown above. This is the activity itself: bowling fees, art materials, club membership, or a meal you’d be buying anyway. You pay it on the day, out of your own money, the same as anyone else going bowling. Programs marked Free have no out-of-pocket cost at all.
2. Support — charged to your plan. Programs are staffed at a ratio determined by need. Where a ratio applies, one support worker supports several participants and the cost of that shift is shared between the group — so it draws less from your plan than one-to-one does.
Plenty of people at our programs are supported one-to-one, and that’s completely normal. The ratio isn’t about squeezing people into groups to save money; it’s set by what each person actually needs to take part safely and enjoy themselves. Some people need a worker beside them the whole time. Some don’t. Both are welcome at the same program.
We’ll tell you exactly what ratio applies to you, and why, before you commit to anything.
For what your own plan covers, your support coordinator or plan manager is the right person to ask — we deliberately don’t advise on that. But we’ll always tell you plainly what we charge.
If cost is the thing stopping you coming, say so and we’ll talk it through.
And the Boowan Court first floor is free
No venue fee and no program fee. It’s free for Lionheart clients to use while they’re receiving supports — come up with your support worker any time we’re open.
Your support time is funded the way it always is. The room, the gear and everything in it cost you nothing. More about the space.
Need this another way? We can send the calendar as a printable image, in large print, or in Easy Read — or read it out over the phone. Just ask.
Who to talk to
Lynsay runs our programs. She’s the person to ask about what’s coming up, whether something would suit you, or how to join in for the first time.
First time is often the hardest. If it helps, tell her and she’ll make sure someone meets you at the door.
