Specialist Disability Accommodation is the home. We are the team that supports you in it. Lionheart is not an SDA housing provider — we do not own or build SDA — and that separation is a good thing.

What this looks like day to day
You live in a home fitted with the features you need — ceiling hoists, wider doorways, an accessible bathroom — owned and maintained by your SDA provider. Lionheart is the team that shows up to support you in it.
Where this usually sits in a plan
SDA (the housing) is funded under Capital Supports and paid to your SDA provider. The support Lionheart delivers is funded separately under Core Supports, usually as SIL.

Does Lionheart own or build SDA housing?
No. We are not an SDA provider — we do not own, build or lease SDA properties. We are the service provider delivering supports to people who live in them.
Why does that separation matter?
Because your housing and your support are two different things, and you should be able to change one without losing the other. When the same organisation is your landlord and your support provider, raising a problem about your support can feel like risking your home. Keeping them separate protects your choice and control.
Is SDA funding automatic?
No — SDA funding requires assessment, and is only included in plans where extreme functional impairment or very high support needs are established. Your support coordinator or the NDIA can advise on eligibility.
I am moving into an SDA home. Can Lionheart support me there?
Very likely, yes. Talk to us about the property, your plan and the supports you need. We work alongside a range of SDA providers.
What if I am not happy with my support?
You tell us, and we fix it — and because we are not your landlord, raising it costs you nothing. If you would rather go elsewhere, your housing is not affected.
